I’ve never driven the track myself but, after hundreds of Forza laps at Laguna Seca, I can say with very little authority that this complex is reminiscent of the famous Corkscrew. A nice blind off camber left over the crest of the hill into a G shattering downhill right - the elevation changes aren’t nearly as extreme, but it’s good enough for government work.

Reminds me more of the Eau Rouge / Raidillon combination at Spa!

I probably would be making that comparison had I been going the other direction. Regardless, it was great fun going through it at ummm... precisely 55 mph.

It looks like it would be a lot of fun... at 55mph.

I haven’t driven the actual Corkscrew at speed yet, but I have driven it during two Parade Laps at 30 mph, and it looks like “Holy T-Shirt! There’s a left-hand turn here!!!” I do plan to drive it at speed in a HPDE on the first weekend of October this year.
However, your article reminds me of another similar set of turns on Highway 1 (the Pacific Coast Highway) in Northern California: On the way up to Crescent City, you could be driving along in perfect comfort between the tall, cool redwood trees. You could be tooling along at an easy 65- to 70-mph if you were doing it during the week with no other traffic. You could have the top down and could be enjoying a liquid refreshment or two. And then without warning, **you would have a Corkscrew-like S-turn down and to the left into a riverbed!** “Holy T-Shirts!”, you might say! And then, if you didn’t slow down enough, you could **enter, at high speed, a reverse Corkscrew-like S-turn up and to the right back up toward the coastal plain.** And if you were driving a capable corner-carver as I was, you might ***almost get air getting back up onto the flat part of the road!!! “Holy T-Shirts!!!”*** And if you (like me) wanted to find out what just happened, you might pull over and see if it was marked on the map. And sure enough, if you zoom in enough, that feature of the road is as clear as can be.
Happy Driving! 8^)
